FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Seventy-three-year-old Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker took his challenger’s campaign slogan to heart on his way to winning his third term in office.

Walaker collected 56 percent of the vote Tuesday in defeating Brad Wimmer, a city commissioner who ran on a health and wellness platform he called “Fargo Fit.”

The 60-year-old Wimmer, who often wore warm-up clothes on the campaign trail to promote his cause, played tennis Tuesday morning before casting his vote in his workout gear.

The mayor has embarked on a wellness project of his own. The 6-foot-5 Walaker says he has lost 60 pounds this year.
