PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A former eastern Kentucky sheriff’s deputy has pleaded guilty to a charge of official misconduct.

Prosecutor Rick Bartley told the Appalachian News-Express (https://bit.ly/TJeDJa) that 33-year-old Matthew Blanton pleaded guilty last week to the misdemeanor count. The newspaper reports prosecutors dropped a drug trafficking charge against Blanton in exchange for the guilty plea.

Blanton was relieved of duty after being arrested last year.
