PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) - A longtime administrator with the Lauderdale County School District has been named superintendent of the Philadelphia Public School District.

The hiring of Lisa Hull was announced this week by the school board. Thirteen had applied for the job.

Hull will succeed Terry Larabee who resigned last year as superintendent for city schools. Robert Turnage has been serving as the district’s interim superintendent since Nov. 5, 2013.

Hull has been the federal projects coordinator for the Lauderdale County School District since 1998. She works with school personnel and parents to institute improvement throughout the district.

Hull has completed all coursework for a doctorate in educational leadership from Mississippi State the Mississippi University for Women. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Mississippi University for Women.
