JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A California school administrator has been selected as the next superintendent of the Juneau School District.

KTOO (https://is.gd/dZ4yut ) says the Juneau School Board chose Mark Miller, who is currently assistant superintendent of human resources at Hayward Unified School District in California.

The announcement about the Juneau hire was made Monday night.

Miller also has been a high school principal and science teacher.

He was one of three finalists for the Juneau position, which pays an annual salary of $162,000.

Sixty-five people applied for the job. Miller is set to begin in July.

Current Juneau schools superintendent Glenn Gelbrich is leaving the district. His last day is June 30.
