ERIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a landlord in Monroe County discovered that one of his rental properties was being used as a marijuana-growing operation.

The Monroe News reports (https://bit.ly/1q3Thnj ) the 80-year-old Petersburg man called the sheriff’s department after he found that two bedrooms at the Erie Township property had been converted to a growth operation with lamps, fans, water sources and a humidifier.

Authorities say more than 50 marijuana plants were found at the property, located about 45 miles southwest of Detroit.

The landlord told investigators that he went to check out the property Saturday after he hadn’t heard from the renter in about six months.
