SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls businessman has been sentenced to 11 months in prison and must pay more than $357,000 in restitution for tax evasion.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 46-year-old Jared Adrian earlier pleaded guilty to one count of willful failure to collect or pay over tax for his business, Jared Adrian Sod.

Prosecutors say that between 2006 and 2010, he didn’t pay employment taxes by referring to his workers as “independent contractors” or “contract laborers.”
