PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say more than 1,700 pounds of marijuana in the Phoenix area has been seized along with $66,000 in cash, several vehicles and 15 weapons including automatic assault rifles.

They say it is part of ongoing investigation targeting an illegal narcotics enterprise operating in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Sheriff’s deputies worked with multiple federal and local law enforcement agencies in the operation.

They executed search warrants at six locations throughout the Phoenix area.

Sheriff’s officials say the six locations were being used as residences and stash houses.

Law enforcement officers arrested seven people suspected of participating in the illegal narcotics enterprise.

The seven will face a grand jury on June 19.

Their names weren’t immediately released Wednesday.
