AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (AP) - A foodservice company is establishing a new distribution center in Montgomery County, creating nearly 60 new jobs.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that Driscoll Foods had decided to expand operations and transform the abandoned Quandts facility in Amsterdam. The new center will enable Driscoll to serve the Mohawk Valley and Capital Region.

The state is supporting the expansion with a grant of up to $200,000 for the purchase and renovation of the vacant site in Amsterdam. Driscoll plans to be operational in Amsterdam within several weeks.

Driscoll is based in Clifton, New Jersey, and operates a fleet of more than 100 trucks. It distributes meat, dairy products, frozen foods, groceries, paper and cleaning supplies.
