PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Teens on skateboards and others accompanied by their parents joined Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber at a Tuesday evening prayer vigil after a fatal school shooting.
Freshman Jose Medel told The Oregonian (https://is.gd/fO0NgD ) that he came for Emilio Hoffman, who was killed in the Tuesday morning shooting at Reynolds High School.
The vigil at the Greater Portland Baptist Church took place just five miles from the shooting scene.
Authorities say a teen gunman armed with a rifle shot and killed the 14-year-old student and injured a teacher before he likely killed himself at the high school east of Portland. Troutdale police Sgt. Carey Kaer says officers found the suspect dead in a school restroom and say he likely killed himself.
