SLIDELL, La. (AP) - The Slidell City Council has authorized Mayor Freddy Drennan to enter into a new garbage collection contract. Residents won’t see any changes in their service but the city will see a slight reduction in the contract price.

The new contract, approved on Tuesday, is with Progressive Waste Solutions, which has serviced the city under another name, Coastal Waste Solutions. The new contract sets the price for the city must pay for twice-weekly garbage pickup and recycling at $18.81 per month per residence.

That’s a reduction of .50 cents from the current contract price of $19.31 per month. The current contract expires on June 30.
