SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane County sheriff’s spokesman says preliminary information indicates a man has been stabbed with a broken golf club in Spokane Valley.

Deputy Craig Chamberlin said the man was in critical condition late Tuesday.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/ehmCRF ) that deputies were called to a home by a resident who apparently injured the other man.

Chamberlin says two men on bikes had come to the home several times looking for a female resident who wasn’t there. When they arrived the third time, one of the bicyclists threw a rock at a male resident. That led to a fight and the resident used a golf club to hit one of the bicyclists. Chamberlin says when the club broke, the resident apparently used it to stab one man.

The sheriff’s spokesman said deputies were interviewing the resident.
