CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The Spoleto Festival USA reports about 60,000 tickets were sold for the events in the Charleston arts festival.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported the festival generated nearly $3 million in ticket sales for the 141 performances.

The 17-day festival had an operating budget of nearly $7 million this year. More than half of that was raised through private donations.

Organizers say more than 3,500 people attended the closing performance at Middleton Place, the largest finale attendance in more than 10 years.

Performances for next year’s event will be announced early in 2015.
