PHOENIX (AP) - A woman is accused of arson after allegedly breaking into a Phoenix apartment and stealing a laptop before setting the unit on fire.

Witnesses told Phoenix police they saw 22-year-old Jasmin Pita punch open a window and enter an apartment last Thursday.

Investigators believe Pita’s ex-boyfriend lived in the apartment but moved out in December 2012.

Court records show that witnesses reported seeing Pita leave through the front door and saw a fire and smoke through one of the apartment windows.

Police say the bedroom where the fire started was ruined and the rest of the apartment was damaged because of the heat and smoke.

Pita has been booked into jail on suspicion of arson, burglary and theft and other charges.

It was unclear Tuesday if she has an attorney.
