LAKESIDE, Ore. (AP) - A southern Oregon sheriff’s office says divers rescued two women and a 2-year-old girl from a sailboat that overturned Thursday on a lake.

Coos County deputies and Lakeside Fire and Rescue responded to a report that a sailboat carrying five people had overturned just after leaving the dock at Tenmile Lake in Lakeside, Oregon. Two men got out of the boat but the women and child were reported trapped in the cabin.

The sheriff’s office says Lakeside firefighters and then rescue divers pulled all three from the boat. They were taken to a nearby hospital, as was one of the men. Their conditions were not immediately known.

The 71-year-old Coos Bay man who was operating the boat was checked at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says preliminary information indicates the vessel failed to take on ballast before launching and tipped over when the sail went up.
