TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a bicyclist riding in Tempe has died after being hit by a semi-truck.

Tempe police spokeswoman Molly Enright says the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Elliot Road near Priest Drive early Thursday when the incident occurred.

According to investigators, the driver of the semi was turning right onto westbound lanes and appeared not to see the bicyclist.

Firefighters provided aid at the scene but the bicyclist did not survive the injuries.

Enright says the victim’s identity is not being released until notification of next of kin.

She says the truck driver was not impaired so no charges will be filed.
