TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - Tupelo Chief Operations Officer Don Lewis is asking the city council for approval to auction off items left in a vacant apartment complex.

WTVA-TV in Tupelo reports (https://bit.ly/TJt9ki ) Lewis wants to hold the auction on June 21 with council approval.

Lewis wants to auction the contents of the 112 units at the Azalea Garden Apartments, which was bought by the city in April for a little more than $2 million.

Lewis says the contents of each unit will be sold individually to the highest bidder. He says any items left in the apartment are available for auction, including refrigerators, light fixtures and cabinets.

Lewis says city employees and the city council cannot buy items.
