SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The head of the Oregon Department of Water Resources is taking a new job.

Phil Ward will be the new head of the Oregon office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency.

Department spokeswoman Racquel Rancier says deputy director Tom Paul will fill in as acting director while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement.

Rancier says Ward served as head of the Oregon Department of Agriculture before taking over Water Resources 10 years ago, and wanted to return to his roots in agriculture as he closes out his career.
