SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A former maintenance worker for the Huntington Beach City School District has been convicted of charges of possessing and distributing child porn.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1hRdmep) Roger Scott Hewson was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail, five years’ probation and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration under a court offer by a Superior Court judge.

The 51-year-old had pleaded guilty to felony counts of distributing obscene matter and possession and control of child pornography.

Prosecutors say the images, which didn’t depict any district students, were distributed on the Internet through a file-sharing program.

Officials said Hewson, a painter for the district, was not often around children and usually painted when school was not in session.
