TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Local students attending the Florida State Fair during next year’s Student Days will see some big changes because of a melee that resulted in dozens of arrests and the death of a 14-year-old boy.

The Tampa Tribune (bit.ly/1xN1bUr) reports no one under 18 will be admitted to the fair free without an adult after 6 p.m. And all students will be required to show school ID badges. Teens who behave inappropriately will be detained until a parent comes to pick them up.

The new rules were adopted in response to a stampede of young people, which led to the ejection of 99 teens on Student Day in February. Andrew Joseph III was struck and killed by a vehicle as he tried to run across nearby Interstate 4.
