NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police are warning commuters who walk downtown from Union Station about a rash of robberies along that route.

Police Lt. Holly Wasilewski tells the New Haven Register (https://bit.ly/UvBTv1 ) there have been at least six robberies over the past six weeks in or near the Church Street housing complex.

Police say many people cut through the complex on their way from the train station to downtown New Haven.

Police say the robberies are occurring between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m and appear to be targeting pedestrians who look as though they don’t belong in the area.

Police are adding extra patrols, but Wasilewski says those who can should take a shuttle services to and from the station.
