CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man is being held without bond on attempted murder and aggravated battery charges for an attack on a woman prosecutors say was prompted by the victim’s apparent “happiness.”
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1n6xW7K) Cook County prosecutors said Jessie White attacked the woman Tuesday as she walked her daughter home from school.
Assistant State’s Attorney Erin Antonietti said the 25-year-old White put a knife to the woman’s throat and dragged her into the basement of an empty coach house where he beat her.
The attack was stopped by the woman’s husband, who was brought to the scene by his daughter, who ran home for help.
Antonietti said the woman’s apparent happiness angered White, causing him to want to kill her.
It wasn’t immediately known if White has a lawyer.
