BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Billings Clinic has selected 12 people for its inaugural internal medicine residency.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1lt2lPh ) the residents begin orientation on July 1 and will begin making rounds at the hospital and clinic during the third week in July.

The spots were filled in March through the national resident matching program. The residents include Billings native Sean Jones, as well as people from Kenya, India and Cyprus and students who attended medical school in Hungary, Antigua and St. Kitts.

Four of the 12 will be at Billings Clinic for a year before moving on to a specialty program. The others will spend three years at Billings Clinic.

Associate residency director Dr. Steve Gerstner says the program will create an active learning environment at the hospital and enhance patient care.
