ORLEANS, Mass. (AP) - A father and son have been sentenced to two years each in prison after pleading guilty to scamming an 87-year-old Dennis woman out of about $20,000.

Authorities say 53-year-old William Woods, of Sandwich, and 28-year-old William Woods Jr., of Harwich, offered to fix the woman’s deck, shower, some windows and other items around her house.

The Cape Cod Times (https://bit.ly/1lgJFOn ) reports that the woman began giving them checks that during the course of last summer added up to about $20,000.

The victim’s daughter called police to say she suspected her mother was being scammed by her contractors.

A building inspector found most of work done by the Woodses was incomplete or incorrect.

They were sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to larceny on a disabled person over 60 and conspiracy.
