GENEVA, Ill. (AP) - The Kane County coroner says he’s closing the county morgue due to health and safety concerns.

Kane County Coroner Rob Russell didn’t detail concerns in a Friday news release. He said investigation and evaluation of potential issues are continuing. The coroner says until further notice all Kane County autopsies have been transferred to the DuPage County coroner’s facility in Wheaton.

Russell says the transfer won’t affect the public. He says families and funeral homes will be notified of the change.
