DETROIT (AP) - A documentary about the lives of contemporary Native Americans in Michigan and the Midwest is being presented twice this weekend by the Detroit Historical Society.

“Our Fires Burn: The Native American Experience” is being screened Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Detroit Historical Museum. Saturday’s showing will be followed by a question-and-answer session led by documentary producer Audrey Geyer.

Geyer is founder and executive director of Visions, a nonprofit and independent video production company based in the Detroit suburb of Brighton.

The screenings are part of the society’s monthly film series.
