DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A 20-year-old male escort has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Publix deli worker in Ormond Beach.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://bit.ly/Uz1d3o ) reports Dillon O’Donnell was sentenced Thursday for the death of 38-year-old William “Billy” Davis III on April 6, 2012.

A jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and grand theft for stealing Davis’ car.

O’Donnell’s former roommate testified that within hours of Davis’ murder, he’d heard O’Donnell say he was going to end up killing someone who owed him money and a PlayStation.

In his opening statements, Prosecutor Ed Davis told jurors that a forensic exam of O’Donnell’s phone indicated he researched how to fatally stab someone.
