NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man has been convicted in a fatal drunken driving crash.

A Pasco County jury found 59-year-old David Wilson Smith guilty Wednesday of DUI manslaughter. He faces up to 15 years in prison at a July 25 sentencing.

Authorities say Smith was driving a red Dodge Viper in December 2010 when he collided with a car being driven by 72-year-old Myrtle Knowles Sigmon. The woman lost control, spun into oncoming traffic and slammed into another car. She died at the scene.

After the crash, Smith’s blood-alcohol level was recorded to be 0.10 percent. Florida law considers a driver impaired at 0.08.

The Tampa Bay Times (https://goo.gl/oTzDOp ) reports that jurors deliberated for two hours before returning their verdict.
