SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after admitting he was driving drunk when he ran over a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III says Friday that 29-year-old Paul Nicholson II of Saratoga Springs will sentenced to 3 to 9 years in prison on two counts of first-degree vehicular manslaughter.

Nicholson’s pickup truck hit 55-year-old Jamie Joe McBride in Saratoga Springs on the afternoon of June 7, 2013. McBride was from Mukilteo (muh-kihl-TEE’-oh), Washington, near Seattle.

Investigators said Nicholson had been drinking in local bars and had a blood alcohol level of 0.18 percent when he hit McBride. That’s more than twice the legal level.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 7.
