PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida woman accused of killing her domestic partner’s 2-year-old daughter has been indicted on first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and child-abuse charges.

The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office announced the grand jury’s decision Thursday.

Officials say 40-year-old Kimberly Lucas killed 2-year-old Elliana Lucas-Jamason and then tried to kill the girl’s 10-year-old brother on Memorial Day. Details about what led up to the girl’s death remain under investigation, but the girl’s body was found in a bathtub.

Authorities had previously charged the woman, but Florida law requires that a defendant be indicted by a grand jury in order for prosecutors to seek the death penalty.

Prosecutors told The Palm Beach Post (https://goo.gl/LW5HWq ) they are still deciding whether to pursue capital punishment.
