SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - An 8-year-old Southern California boy who was critically injured in a plane crash that killed a paramedic has died.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office says Sebastian Grewal of Frazier Park died at a hospital Friday of injuries sustained in Monday’s crash.

The boy suffered trauma to his head and upper body when the single-engine plane nosedived and crashed at El Mirage Dry Lake.

The pilot, 47-year-old Brian Lee, was killed. He was a paramedic for the Los Angeles Fire Department, and was a family friend who gave Sebastian a plane ride during a camping trip.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Cpl. Randy Naquin has said the plane did a nosedive after experiencing “some sort of mechanical issue.”
