DALLAS (AP) - Dallas police have shot and killed a man after a brief confrontation in front of his home.

Deputy Chief Gil Garza says police had responded Saturday to a call about a man “exhibiting mental health behavior.” Police say the man was armed, but not with a gun.

The Dallas Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1nEJ4ul ) details of the incident remain vague.

Garza says the officers knocked on the man’s door and after a “very, very, very brief altercation” he was shot. Garza says the officers acted in self-defense.

The identity of the man killed has not been released.

The two officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, standard procedures in such cases.
