DETROIT (AP) - Dozens of volunteers searched for two missing Detroit children in Rouge Park, near the children’s home.

Charmika Elder of Southfield was among those looking Saturday for 6-year-old Kaylah Hunter and 8-month-old Kristian Justice.

Elder came out even though she doesn’t know the family. She tells The Detroit News (https://bit.ly/1ix36T9 ) “it could have been my two grandkids.”

Kaylah and Kristian’s mother, Alicia Fox, was found dead Monday in a vacant house. She had been shot. Her kids have been declared missing.

Detroit 300 organized a group of searchers to cover the entirety of Rouge Park on Saturday. The volunteers fanned out across fields with waist-high grass.

Police have been searching as well, looking in vacant homes, backyards and fields.

Fox’s husband, Erin Justice, is jailed in Atlanta on a murder charge.
