ATLANTA (AP) - The University System of Georgia has hired a new director for research, policy and analysis.

System officials said this week Angela Bell will begin July 1 and will direct the design of data collection and analysis to support research, planning, policy development and implementation. Bell will be leaving her post as vice chancellor of policy and planning with the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

The Office of Research, Policy and Analysis is charged with analyzing higher education and related state and national policy issues and their impact on the university system.

System officials say Bell’s research has focused on analysis of financial aid policy and factors shaping student success. Bell received her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Georgia in 2008.
