DENVER (AP) - A jury has convicted a 44-year-old father accused of coercing his son to shoot and kill a man last year in Denver.

The Denver Post reports (https://bit.ly/1ix46qk ) Daryl Thompson Sr. was found guilty Friday of first-degree murder, witness intimidation and being an accessory in the April 24, 2013, shooting death of 37-year-old Charles Harris in the Park Hill neighborhood. Thompson was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

His son, 20-year-old Daryl Thompson Jr., testified on behalf of the prosecution during his father’s trial. He pleaded guilty in December to second-degree murder and will be sentenced later this month.

Prosecutors say the Thompsons had been in a fight with Harris, and a short time later the elder Thompson ordered his son to shoot the man.
