KEARNS, Utah (AP) - A 31-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of a Kearns man that police say was motivated by unwarranted jealousy over a woman.

Douglas Evans was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with murder and aggravated burglary in the May 31 shooting of 49-year-old Theodore Kelbach.

A woman told police that she and Kelbach were alone in the home when they heard a knock at the door. When Kelbach went to the door, she heard a loud bang and then saw a man flee in a car.

Police say the 31-year-old Evans suspected Kelbach of having a secret relationship with his girlfriend, but detectives determined there was no romance between the victim and her.
