ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A woman has died after a fire at her Asheville home.

Asheville Fire Department spokeswoman Kelly Klope says 72-year-old Iva Blankenship died early Friday morning at a hospital.

Authorities say a neighbor and an off-duty firefighter broke down a door and pulled Blankenship from her burning home on Thursday afternoon.

Several dozen firefighters put out the fire Thursday night. Authorities think the fire started in the home’s living room, but they haven’t determined the cause.
