HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hartford police say a man was shot to death in the city’s sixth homicide of the year, while another man was critically wounded in another weekend shooting.

Authorities say 34-year-old Huberto O’Neil of Hartford was shot multiple times in the face and head Saturday afternoon on a sidewalk just south of downtown. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police say the shooting appeared to be a deliberate attack on O’Neil. The motive isn’t clear.

Later in the afternoon, police say a suspect walked up to a car in the North End and shot 25-year-old Jonathan Weaver of Hartford in the neck. Weaver then drove off, struck another car and made it to a hospital. He’s reported in critical condition.

The motive for that shooting also isn’t clear.
