JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court declined Thursday to hear appeals from three people convicted for their roles in the 2008 shooting death of Richard Barnes and the wounding of three others.

Leon Hayes was sentenced in 2012 in Lawrence County Circuit to serve 15 years on a conspiracy to commit murder count. Hayes also was sentenced to serve 15 years on an aggravated assault count.

Jason Davis was sentenced 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder plus 15 years for aggravated assault.

April Garner was sentenced to serve 15 years on a conspiracy to commit murder count.

Authorities say Barnes and three friends - all unarmed - went to fight with another group and found themselves facing high-powered weapons.

The state Court of Appeals upheld the convictions last year.
