Cleveland police are investigating a possible hate crime after a 13-year-old black girl viciously attacked a 10-year-old white girl while allegedly shouting racial slurs.

A video of the attack posted on YouTube shows the victim, Danielle Fair, being ambushed by the older girl. The older girl delivers blows to Danielle’s head, face and neck for about 12 seconds until voices are heard in the background calling for it to stop, a local CBS affiliate reported.

A neighbor who said she witnessed the attack told the station that the older girl used a racial slur as she pummeled the younger victim.

“Cracker. She called her a cracker,” said Jessica Jaworski.

The station reports that the camera was rolling well before the attack took place, suggesting the ambush might have been premeditated.

A reporter with WOIO went to the home of the suspect but was confronted by a woman at the door: “Nobody was waiting. I don’t have to talk to you. It’ll all come out in court.”

Danielle’s parents told the station that their daughter never said anything to provoke the beating and that they even tried to reach out to the other girl’s grandfather before calling police.

The Blaze reports that no arrests have been made, and police are investigating Wednesday’s attack as a juvenile assault.
