REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) - Two candidates have filed paperwork to run for mayor of Rehoboth Beach, and five candidates are running for two seats on the town Board of Commissioners.
The News Journal (https://delonline.us/1qR2YmA ) reports Rehoboth Mayor Sam Cooper is running for another term. He will be challenged by resident Thomas McGlone, who also ran against Cooper three years ago. The election is Aug. 9.
Cooper has been mayor for 24 years. He says he still enjoys it and has more to offer.
In a statement, McGlone says that as a local small business owner and resident, he wants a city government that functions smoothly and with accountability to customers.
In the race for town board, the candidates include Commissioner Lorraine Zellers and residents Kathleen McGuiness, Lawrence Myslewski, Francis Markert and John Meng.
