CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a 44-year-old man died after he was tossed out of a commercial raft while negotiating rough water in the Royal Gorge Section of the Arkansas River near Canon City.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says Christopher Sevilla, of Colorado Springs, apparently was experiencing respiratory problems before he and five other rafters were tossed into the water at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Canon City Daily Record reports (https://bit.ly/1q0M5Gm ) Sevilla, who was wearing a helmet and a life jacket, was pulled from the water unresponsive.

Rescuers flagged down a tourist train headed to Canon City and loaded the man on board. Sevilla died before reaching a hospital.
