ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - Officers from the St. Albans Police Department will be having coffee with the public next week to discuss community issues and build relationships.

The Coffee with a Cop event takes place Wednesday at 7 a.m. at McDonalds.

The event is an opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn about the department’s work in their neighborhoods.

Authorities say most of the contacts that law enforcement make with the public happen during emergencies.

Police say Coffee with a Cop, a national initiative, allows for a more relaxed one-on-one interaction with the goal of improving relationships between police officers and community members.
