JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Heather McTeer Toney, the Environmental Protection Agency’s regional administrator in Atlanta, is leading a tour of the Prewitt Farm in Boyle, Mississippi, on Monday.

Toney is the former mayor of Greenville. She was named to the EPA post in January.

Toney will be joined on the 8:45 a.m. tour by Ellen Gilinsky, senior policy advisor in EPA’s national Office of Water.

Prewitt Farms’ Bern Prewitt Jr. will take tour participants for a look at wildlife and waterfowl habitat and wetlands.

Toney will hold a news conference at 9:45 a.m. at Porter Bayou in Shaw, Mississippi, to discuss a rule proposal that seeks to clarify which waters or wetlands would trigger federal requirements, such as permitting and state water quality certification. Some farm owners and landowners are opposing the rule.
