BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - A California woman has been sentenced to five years on probation and fined $2,500 after she admitted helping deliver 25 pounds of marijuana to Bozeman over three years ago.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1pAVkzc) 44-year-old Judy Merrell was sentenced on June 10 by District Judge Holly Brown. Merrell earlier pleaded guilty to felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute.

Merrell was arrested in Bozeman in January 2011 along with her now-husband Todd Merrell. He faces trial in October for two counts of felony drug distribution.

Defense attorney Eric Brewer told Brown that the transaction was primarily Todd Merrell’s doing. Brown countered that the couple was motivated by greed.

Judy Merrell has served 19 days in jail.
