PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Candidates for public office in Rhode Island must file paperwork soon to be eligible to appear on this year’s ballot.

Secretary of State Ralph Mollis says candidates need to file their declaration of candidacy forms by the end of the day Wednesday, June 25.

Candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate and statewide general offices must submit their declarations to the secretary of state’s office. Candidates for the state’s General Assembly or local municipal positions should file with their local board of canvassers.

This year’s statewide primary is Sept. 9 and the general election is Nov. 4.
