JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Juneau police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man accused of yelling racial slurs during the recent Alaska Native gathering known as Celebration.

During a parade near the end of the event Saturday, police say a white man grabbed an American flag from the hands of a Native man.

They say he yelled slurs at the man and crowd and also tried to spit on and take off with the flag. But people in the area got the flag from him as he ran off, shoving people out of his way.

Lt. Kris Sell says police were investigating a number of potential crimes, including assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, all with a racial enhancement.

She says no one was injured but the situation was disturbing.
