CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Casper man faces up to three years in prison and a $250,000 fine for defrauding the Internal Revenue Service.

The U.S. Department of Justice says Sonny Pilcher appeared in federal court on Monday and pleaded guilty to tax fraud. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 28.

Prosecutors say Pilcher tried to obstruct the IRS by claiming a false bad debt expense of $258,000 on his 2008 tax return, and by paying his employees in cash to avoid paying employment taxes.
