GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Greenville police have charged a 24-year-old Greenville man with arson and murder involving a fatal house fire Friday.

Police say charges were filed against Johnny Earl Stephney.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1lz47hL ) firefighters responded to the fire at 3:40 a.m. Friday and found the body 0f 54-year-old Markham Dixon face down in a bedroom. Deputy Coroner DeQuoae Smith pronounced Dixon dead at the scene.

Dixon’s body has been sent to the State Crime Lab in Jackson for an autopsy.

Investigators determined the fire had been intentionally set.

Assistant Police Chief Delando Wilson says investigators believe the two men had argued.

Stephney is held at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility pending an initial court appearance.
