MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A Mesa woman is in custody in connection with an accident last week that left two people dead.

Mesa police say 35-year-old Ingrid I. Morataya was arrested Monday after she was released from a hospital.

She’s being held on suspicion of two counts of manslaughter, felony aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and aggravated DUI. It’s unclear if Morataya has a lawyer yet.

Morataya allegedly was the driver of a car that rear-ended a vehicle at a Mesa intersection on June 9.

Police say 37-year-old Guadalupe Madril and 33-year-old Jason Aguilera were pronounced dead at the scene.

Morataya’s vehicle reportedly was traveling about 90 mph when it collided with the car carrying Madril and Aguilera.

Police say Morataya was acting strangely after the accident and appeared to under the influence of drugs.
