DETROIT (AP) - Police say a 44-year-old man who was shot in the face at a Detroit bus stop walked home and woke his wife so she could take him to the hospital.

The Detroit News and WWJ-AM report the man is in critical condition at a hospital Monday after being shot around 4:30 a.m. on the city’s east side.

The man told police he didn’t know the shooter, who got away. Police say they didn’t immediately know what prompted the shooting.

Officer Adam Madera tells the Detroit Free Press the shooter “didn’t say anything. He just walked up and shot him.”
